Before joining The HR Consultant, Sarah’s work experience included assignments as a senior HR leader in the software development, chemical manufacturing, and banking industries. Additionally, she managed the Affirmative Action services for an employers’ council. Sarah’s background also included teaching undergraduate and graduate studies in Human Resources Development and Industrial Psychology.

What are your responsibilities at The HR Consultant?
I help partner companies meet their EEO and Affirmative Action requirements as well as conduct organizational training and workplace investigations.

What strengths do you bring to the team?
I can see the big picture and focus on the details. My broad HR background affords me the ability to be both strategic and tactical depending on the challenge at hand. In addition to expertise in HR compliance matters, I like to work in the area of change management especially related to mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.

How long have you worked in human resources?
Unbelievably, more than 30 years.

What makes you passionate about the work The HR Consultant does?
Big personal values for me are Integrity, Equity and Balance. Those are organizational values too at The HR Consultant. I can do great work with clients while being true to who I am. I think that everyone wants to engage in meaningful work and feel valued for their contribution. I am excited about helping to make that happen.

What are your favorite client problems to solve?
In addition to being a technical advisor on HR issues, I really like to help organizations understand how they can balance compliance obligations and HR best practices with other business objectives such as profitability and sustainability. Those things don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

What sets The HR Consultant apart?
The quality of the relationships with our clients sets us apart from others in the marketplace. We truly work to be partners and to help companies as their businesses grow and change over time.

What are your favorite activities outside of work?
Listening to live music of almost any kind, reading a good book and traveling to cultures unfamiliar are my favorite pastimes.

How do you unwind after a long day of solving HR headaches?
Making and then sharing a nice meal with others is food for my soul – anytime!

What is your favorite vacation destination?
Oceans and big lakes where I can hear waves hitting the shore are the best places on earth.

What three items would you take to a desert island?
I’d take a soul mate, a solar-powered charger and a smartphone.
